La Chuparosa is about a 50 min drive North of the airport. To get to us you can either rent a car or take a taxi from the official taxi stand. You can arrange your return to the airport with our managers Beto and MaElena.
Rent a Car: Renting a car can be a good idea if you’d like the convenience and flexibility of buying groceries, accessing additional surf spots and eating at restaurants in other towns nearby. Because the managers often change, we don’t recommend a particular rental company. Most credit cards and US insurance companies do not cover you in Mexico so you might want to check and consider taking the full insurance on your rental car.
Taxi: If you do not wish to rent a car, there is a taxi service that will drive you out to the property. We recommend using the official taxi service which has a desk in the area to the right after you exit the customs area.
FROM THE AIRPORT TO LA CHUPAROSA:
Driving from the airport head north on Highway Mexico 200 (the only road out of the airport) following signs to Ixtapa/Lazaro Cardenas. Once past Zihuatanejo, the highway becomes divided and goes up the hill heading out of town. At the top of the hill, go RIGHT following the signs to Lazaro Cardenas (straight takes you to Ixtapa).
Continue past Lagunillas. Please note, after Lagunillas there will be a sign for “La Saladita” this is not “Playa Saladita” where we are located, please do not turn but continue on the highway until the 35km road marker. After the Los Llanos bridge “Puente Los Llanos” take a left into the little town of Los Llanos. It turns to the right at the mercado PATI, and continues past the church where it bears right and goes downhill slightly as you drive out of town. There is a sign to Playa La Saladita on the right side as you head out of Los Llanos towards the beach.
After several minutes on your right you will see a large cement wall wrapping around a corner. Make a right onto the dirt road at this point. Go up several hundred yards and make a left at the sign for La Chuparosa (during the rainy season if the area to the left is flooded go to the next road to make your left). Follow this road towards the ocean. Make a left onto the road that runs parallel to the beach behind several houses. Keep going straight, shortly after entering the coconut grove you will see our gate on the right.
You will now be at the back of La Chuparosa’s property. Please drive past Beto and MariaElena’s house towards the ocean. Drive through the gate in the big brown wall to unload. If you haven’t seen our manager Beto by this point, feel free to look around and one of the staff will help you.
FROM THE AIRPORT TO MEGA (Large Supermarket):
Street signs are hard to find so please follow these simple directions.
Head north on Highway Mexico 200 (the only road out of the airport). As you enter Zihuatanejo there will be a stop light with a sign reading “Centro.” Turn left at this light. The road will curve to the right and continue straight for about a ¼ mile until you see a large supermarket, Mega Soriana, on your right hand side.
When leaving Mega, exit from the side parking lot and take a right. Take the next right and merge left as soon as possible. You will come to a stoplight, wait for the turn arrow and make a U turn. You will now be back on highway Mexico 200 (the airport road) heading North. (Please follow the directions for the Airport to La Chuparosa listed above to complete your journey.)
FROM LA CHUPAROSA TO TRONCONES:
Make your way back through the little town of Los Llanos to the main highway Mexico 200. Turn right and head south. Follow the main highway until you see the sign for Trancones. Go right at the fork. Soon after passing the gas station on your left make a right onto the road that will take you out towards Troncones. Drive through the town towards the beach and you will reach a T with the ocean right in front of you. To the left you will find Roberto’s Bistro and to the right you will find Cafe Sol, Cafe Mexicana, Present Moment Yoga, Inn at Manzanillo bay and many other spots.
FROM LA CHUPAROSA TO LA CLINICA IN LA UNION (In case of emergencies):
Make your way through the little town of Los Llanos back to the main highway Mexico 200 and take a left. Continue straight for approximately twenty five minutes. You will come to an intersection with a sign to La Union and make a right inland towards the town. You will soon see the new modern clinic on your right hand side.
